The structure of web teams has been on my mind a lot recently, wondering how important the make-up and organisation of the team is.
Is structure a red herring and are behaviours much more important ? I'd find it fascinating to see how different organisations are setup and whether there are common patterns that could be replicated.

Hmm - I wouldn't mind a chat about this at some point too. Especially in terms of where social media sits. Are Web Teams becoming a service delivery team with the Web Manager being part of the strategic marketing/comms team? Who is looking after our digital footprint as a whole as comms teams don't fully 'get' the Web but Web people do tend to get comms.
Yes, good idea. My lot our one of the few pure development (not Marketing) teams, based in IT and this can be a blocker with Marketing. I think a good web manager needs both IT and marketing skills.
Another issue we're finding is the need to offer a service-oriented, customer-facing, helpdesk style team who do day-to-day maintenance/development vs a pure development/project team who do more advanced stuff. Would be interested to see how others handle this.
