Content strategy as a discipline has been gathering momentum in the web community for some time now. Some institutions are probably already implementing some level of content strategy, but I thought it might be useful to look at what's involved and share some of the activities we've been working on. In my organisation we've been looking at:
- developing message architectures
- web audits and content inventories
- user tasks, personae development
- editorial calendar
- publishing processes and governance
- building support internally (selling the content message)
- Information Architecture, meta data
- How your CMS should support not hinder your content strategy
- Useful resources and events.
Happy to double up with someone if they've been making strides in this area.

Mobile Apps vs Mobile Web - which is better? Will apps last the distance? Have HTML standards had their day?
We are meant to be creating the best experience for our website users but what does that mean, how can it be measured and how can we improve it?

I'd like to run a parallel session on managing Web data.
I'm now working for the Digital Curation Centre and involved in supporting institutions with their research data management. I'm sure there is lots of Web data that some of our approaches could be applied to.
Ideas so far:
* Tips on dealing with data management of key data sets (which Web
teams often get saddled with) - so this could be personnel data, web stats,
student data, retention rates, graduation rates, stuff that FOI requests
might be for.
* Using the cloud/Web to store data sets - so a look at tools out there and the role institutional Web teams could play.
* Tips for data readiness - ideas related to the article 5 things IT should do now
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9221055/_Big_data_prep_5_things_IT_should_do_now
It would also be great to do this as a double act with an institution who is already carrying out some of these activities. Anyone like to volunteer?
Any ideas much appreciated.

One of the biggest challenges organisations face is how to manage their web - not only their content managers but how decisions get made and who has overall responsibility, but it can be the approach that means web can really move ahead and develop, adopted and supported by everyone
It's great with loads of entertaining things to do and a cool shop and great, commanding views of the city. And on the royal mile so dead handy for all the rest.
The structure of web teams has been on my mind a lot recently, wondering how important the make-up and organisation of the team is.
Is structure a red herring and are behaviours much more important ? I'd find it fascinating to see how different organisations are setup and whether there are common patterns that could be replicated.

There has been much discussion about how the EU Cookie Legislation will affect how HEIs will be affected by the implementation of the law, particularly in the areas of digital marketing.
